(GB) – Wednesday night at Leo Palace Resort matched up Sakudee (2-1) vs. Haggan (0-3) in Leo Palace Baseball League Amateur Division action.

Sakudee would fall behind early but rally late to come from behind and edge Haggan in a hard fought 5-3 win. With both teams not swinging the bats, pitching would make the difference with Sakudee’s Josh Aguigui, the Spring League strikeout king, shutting down the Haggan offense and allowing only one earned run with six strikeouts over five innings.

Haggan would take advantage of walks in the first inning and a two RBI-single from Chris Shepard would put Haggan up 2-0 in the first inning.

Sakudee would tie up the game in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI-double from Marvin Knowles and clutch two out RBI-singles by Jeremy McDonald. McDonald would lead the Sakudee offense going 1-2 with two RBIs in the game and flashing the leather at shortstop turning in several rally killing plays.

Haggan would take back the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with RJ Escalona tripling to lead off the inning and a sac fly by Sage Afaien that pushed the Haggan second baseman just deep enough for designated runner Shintaro Okada to score from third base.

The Sakudee offense would start to click in the sixth inning, taking advantage of three walks to lead off the inning. A big two-RBI double from Matt Barcinas and a sac fly again from McDonald would give Sakudee a 5-3 lead they would hold on to. Sakudee reliever Josh Aguigui would lock down Haggan over the final four innings to give Sakudee their second win of the season.

Josh Aguigui picks up the win for Sakudee who improve to 2-1 and Stan Walton the loss for Haggan who fall to 0-3 on the season.
