(GB) – The AM-PCR Angels (4-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season, taking advantage of seven errors and pounding out 11 hits to put up a convincing 15-2 win over the Ipan Rays (4-2) in a five-inning, mercy rule game.

The Rays would jump out to the early lead with John Sarmiento driving in brother TJ Sarmiento in the first inning to give the Rays a 1-0 lead. That lead would quickly evaporate as the Angels would answer in the top of the second inning with two runs from a Randy Alcantara RBI-sac fly and a Christian Borja RBI-single.

The Angels’ offense would explode in the third inning taking advantage of three Rays errors to put five runs on the board and take a commanding 7-2 lead.

The Rays would answer with a run in the bottom of the third inning, with TJ Sarmiento scoring on a Roman Duenas RBI-single.

The Angels’ pitching would settle down and shut down the Rays' offense for the rest of the game with starter Chad Fernandez and relievers Gerald Borja and Clayton Cruz combining to allow only two earned runs and three hits over five innings.

The Angels' offense would add seven more runs in the fifth inning again, taking advantage of Rays errors to end the game with the five-inning mercy rule taking effect.

The Angels' offense pounded out 11 hits with Jathan Muna-Barnes, Brandon Fernandez, Nate Borja and Christian Borja all getting two hits in the game. Gerald Borja picked up the win with two and two-thirds innings of relief, allowing no runs and notching four strikeouts.

The Angels improved to 4-1 on the season and move into sole possession of second place in the AAA Division behind the undefeated Yigolos (5-0). The Rays hold on to third place and fall to 4-2 on the season.
