THE island’s top high school athletes have been named in the 2012 IIAAG (IFL) High School Football League. The coaches’ selections were made earlier in the week and here is a look at the selections made.

Leading the way for the elite group of players on the gridiron are Guam High’s Lordon Aguon and George Washington’s Michael Hocog.

Aguon, who played quarterback for the Panthers, was named the league’s Offensive Most Valuable Player, while Hocog claimed honors as the Defensive Most Valuable Player. Together with their MVP awards, the two were also All-Island First Team selections.

All-Island First Team

Joining Aguon on offense for the first team are: Running Backs – Dondre Barnes (SSHS) and Tegan Brown (Guam High); Fullback – Fraim Leon Guerrero (GW); Wide Receivers – Storm Rosario (GW), Nicolas Aglubat (FD); Tight End – Chance Horvath (Guam High); Center – Michael Pangelinan (JFK); Guards – Christian Sablan (GW) and Matthew Sojo (SSHS); Tackles – Pele Smau (SSHS) and Jaymen Shimizu (GW); Kicker – Brian Leon Guerrero (FD); and Utility – Hank Sablan (GW).

Playing alongside Hocog on defense are: Utility – Thomas Gutierrez (Okkodo); Defensive Tackles – Pele Smau (SSHS), Adam Uncangco (GW); Safeties – Teagan Brown (Guam High), Calvin Muna (Okkodo); Punter – Austin Cruz (Southern); Defensive Ends – Austin Santos (GW), Chris Mallada (FD); Linebackers – Frank Troy (GW), Justin Santos (Okkodo), Raymond Quintanilla (FD); and Cornerbacks – Joshua Feronda (Guam High), Storm Rosario (GW).
