ALL the hard work, effort, perseverance and sweat put forth at every practice and every game by youngsters in the Guam National Youth Football Federation League has paid off as it has prepared them for some post-season action.
With the regular season coming to a close this past weekend, teams are now preparing to take on one another in hopes of capturing their respective division titles. Eight teams completed a seven-game season with the outcome of their final games determining their seeds and their upcoming opponents.
Manha Division
The Falcons, Angels, Saints and Raiders closed out their season in the Manha Division with one last victory. With their victory, the Saints completed the season with a perfect 7-0 record and are set to take on the Falcons who defeated the Eagles for their first and only win of the season. Clinching the second spot in the regular season was the Angels who will open their post-season bid with a matchup against the Northern Yigo Jets. After blanking the Jets this past Sunday, the Raiders end their season with a 5-2 record and are set to take on the Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs. The Eagles and Giants claimed stake to the 4th and 5th seed respectively and will battle one another this weekend.
Metgot Division
A very competitive Metgot Division needed a tiebreaker to determine who will take the top seed heading into the playoffs. Despite picking up wins in their respective matches, the Angels and Raiders ended their season with identical 6-0-1 records. However, after using a tiebreaker system in place, the Angels were awarded first and will take on the 8th-seeded Eagles. Finishing behind the Angels, the Raiders will battle against the 7th-seeded Falcons team. The last two matches set for the divisional playoffs is the Cowboys taking on the Jets and the Saints facing the Giants.
Matua Division
The first round of matches in the Matua Division will pit several rematches from the season finale. The Angels will look to extract revenge and bounce back from a loss against the Cowboys. On Saturday, the Falcons will look to pick up their second straight win against the Eagles. The boys in silver and black are looking to advance in the playoffs as the Raiders take on the Saints. After finishing the regular season undefeated, the Giants look to continue their winning ways and carry momentum into the playoffs as they take on the Jets.
