Monsoon Series set to kick off

WITH competition taking a little more than a month off, race fans will not have to wait much longer for action in motorcycle and ATV racing.

This Sunday, the Monster Energy Off-Road Monsoon Series will be kicking off. Event coordinators have prepared for what is sure to be another series of exciting competition.

According to GIRMAC President Robert Bucek, the competition is slated to begin at 1 p.m. “It’s a monsoon series but for the big bikes and ATVs, its an off-road series. So the course will be a little bit of everything – motocross, endurance, trailing, and obstacles. Every round will be different,” Bucek said via email.

The opening round of the series will have the Open ATV and Open Motorcycle events running a 30-minute single motto heat for double points.

The course will be long and include single track, cross country type trails along with an MX course and portions of the Smokin’ Wheels course.

Event coordinators want to remind potential contestants that it is one bike or ATV per rider. However, those 40 years old and over can run with a partner who must also be 40 and over. Partners must share the same machine. Participants in the mini-classes will ride what they vote on at the riders meeting.

Race organizers extend special thanks to the local businesses that have helped: Cycles Plus, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, GTR Motorsports, and Bobcat Guam. The six rounds of action are scheduled to take place on the following dates: Sept. 23, Oct. 7, Oct. 21, Nov. 4, Nov. 18, and Dec. 2.
