Juice earns two wins in Guam Women’s Fast Pitch action

IN ONLY their second week of action, the ladies in the Guam Women’s Fast Pitch Softball League are already making waves around the island. The Leo Palace Resort softball field was the place to be last weekend as several teams gave their family, friends, and fans in attendance lots to cheer about. Here’s a recap of week two of action around the diamond.

The only game played on Saturday featured the Lady Rebels taking on Juice. Both teams entered their game with a (1-0) record and were looking to improve on their season record. However, at the end of the match, only one team was able to walk away victorious. Led by the pitching of Vanessa Naputi, Juice dealt the Lady Rebels their first loss after earning the 9-2 win. Despite some great work from the mound, Liberty Tajalle was dealt the loss.

With two games on the schedule on Sunday, Bottomed Out and Kadukaz got things started with the first game of the day. The two teams brought their best to the diamond and laid everything on the field. Needing extra innings to declare a winner, Kadukaz edged out Bottomed Out, 10-9. The victory improved Kadukaz to 1-2 on the season, while Bottomed Out remains winless. Shannon Reyes earned the victory from the mound, while Tomisha Roberto suffered the loss.

Playing their second game of the weekend, Juice continued their hot streak and made quick work of Lady Adahi and cruised to an easy 14-2 victory. The win improved Juice’s season-record to 3-0, while the Lady Adahi suffered their first defeat. Coleen Cruz picked up the win from the mound, while Nicole Cruz was dealt the loss.

Guam Women’s Fast Pitch Softball League action resumes on Saturday and Sunday with two games scheduled on each day. Start times are 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
