THE Tamuning Typhoons Basketball Club is now in condition of readiness for its 2012 season. The first official day of practice begins today at Tamuning Gym for new and returning club members.
After a three-month break, the Typhoons are ready and eager to begin preparing for another exciting season. Now in its eighth year, the club continues to support its youth and adult members in the sport of basketball.
Typhoon memberships include a club T-shirt, weekly training session and participation in the annual SummerJam and Thanksgiving HoopFest Youth Basketball Tournaments at the Tamuning Gym.
Additional events scheduled for club members are the annual basketball clinic on May 26, and the hosted Dad and Me 5K Fun/Run on June 17.
This year, the traveling teams will be competing in Manila, Philippines from July 30 to Aug. 6. Tryout dates for members will be announced later.
Club practice sessions are held on Wednesday and Fridays for the following age groups:
- 5 to 10 years old: Friday, 5 to 6:30 p.m.;
- 11 to 16 years old: Friday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and
- 17 to 25 years old (advance teams): Wednesday, 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Membership fees for new applicants cost $150 while renewals are at $125 per member. New members must provide a copy of their birth certificate or passport at registration time. Uniform cost is $50. Fittings and orders will be taken at the time of registration.
