Fuetsa Club comes back to defeat Ada’s Trust

(GHC) – The Golden Hoops Classic 2012 Spring Tournament presented by Aloha Maid and Bank of Guam continued its double elimination playoffs on Sunday at Tamuning Gym.

In the open recreation division it was a come-from-behind win (21-19) for Fuetsa Club against the younger Ada’s Trust Club.

Fuetsa was trailing 11-15 at the half but stepping it up on offense were Sonja Sanchez, Eva Ada, Barbara Perez and Rebecca Salas who contributed points to earn the win, avoiding elimination. Fuetsa will face Bud Mystics in the loser’s bracket semifinals on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Top scorers were Fuetsa’s Sanchez and Perez with five and four points, respectively. Ada’s Trust's Nathan Ada and Lawson Anderson chipped in six points apiece in the loss.

Other game results

Open recreation division – GRC defeated Bud Mystics, 34-22, to advance to the championship game; 40-plus competitive division – Tamuning Typhoons eliminated Ada’s Trust Club 53-42, and Team Fire earned a slot in the championship game after beating Guam Legends 57-38 in the semifinal winner’s bracket; and in the 30-plus competitive division – Inarajan Hawks face Team Fire Club in the semifinal losers bracket on Wednesday at 6 p.m, and the Tamuning Typhoons earned a slot at defending their championship title and will play the winner of the Hawks-Team Fire game.

In the 18-plus competitive division, the Bank of Guam Club defeated the Defenders Club, 58-41; the Inarajan Hawks soared past the Thunders Club 86-42; the Tamuning Typhoons had 87 over Four Stars Club's 65; and DLX/NBF defeated Sky High Club, 64-42.
