FOR 748 Guam residents, the new year comes with an added bonus. The Office of the Governor announced over the weekend that the Department of Revenue and Taxation printed more tax refund checks, valued at about $2.2 million.

Residents who have yet to receive their tax refunds and filed their tax return without error by Dec. 24, 2013 should expect a check from the last batch released during 2013.

Residents owed refunds whose returns were identified as having errors or some other issue that was resolved by Dec. 24 are also part of the group of taxpayers receiving refund checks soon.

The checks were printed the night of Dec. 30 and mailed on Dec. 31, according to a release from the Office of the Governor.

Tax refunds have been intermittently released at the order of the governor throughout 2013. The first batch of 2012 error-free tax refunds was mailed on March 25, 2013. Prior to the 748 checks mailed on Tuesday, the penultimate batch mailed for 2013 was sent on Dec. 18, 2013.
