  • PDF

TUMON (DFS) – DFS Galleria will host its first Festival of Trees this year. The festival is open to all active, registered nonprofit organizations whose primary mission involves the growth of Guam’s tourism industry, community health & welfare, and the growth of Guam’s economy.

Ten organizations will be selected from among interested applicants, to compete for cash prizes, in a Christmas tree decorating contest. Seven-foot white trees, adorned with white lights, will be placed in DFS Galleria. Each selected organization will be asked to produce its own decorations in a red and white theme, with decorations made from recycled materials.

Visitors to DFS Galleria will be allowed to vote from 7:30 p.m., Nov 29 through 11 p.m. on Jan 5, 2014. Votes will determine first, second and third place winners. Additionally, those who voted for winning trees will be eligible for a luxury prize drawing. Voting is open to all who are 18 years and older. A special opening reception will be held at 7:30 p.m., Nov 29 in the Galleria.

Interested organizations should submit an application no later than 5 p.m., Nov. 20. Entries are limited to the first 10 nonprofit organization submissions that are deemed contest-eligible by DFS.

Festival of Trees 2013 is an effort by DFS Guam to encourage support of the community and nonprofit organizations that play an active role in the tourism industry, community health & welfare, and the growth of Guam’s economy. The display of trees is also a vehicle to showcase a part of our island people and their community missions, to all galleria guests, both local residents, and those visiting Guam.
