THE Department of Defense announced Friday it has awarded a contract with a maximum value of $8.3 million to Quality Distributors. The contract is a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-quantity contract for prime-vendor full-line food distribution. This contract was a sole source acquisition. The contract is a bridge contract to provide perishable and nonperishable for 120 days from Oct. 24 to Feb. 21, 2014.

Quality Distributors was first awarded the prime vendor food support contract in October 2006. It was for a two-year base period with five one-year option periods. It expires Oct. 23. A competitive follow-on contract has been delayed for unspecified reasons, according to the Justification for Other Than Full and Open Competition form accompanying the announcement. A follow-on contract is expected soon, but the bridge contract will allow time to prepare for a new contract.

Using the services are Army, Navy, Air Force, federal civilian agencies and the Guam Department of Education. The appropriation is from fiscal 2014 defense working capital funds. The contracting unit is the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support in Philadelphia.

On Oct. 15, KwikSpace Guam Inc. was awarded $387,392 to provide mobile office workspaces to the Air Force at Andersen Air Force Base. The company is to provide four 16-foot by 40-foot mobile office workspace units to be installed on the open asphalt space behind the fire station on the North Ramp area of Andersen. The contracting unit is the 36th Contracting Squadron at Andersen.
