TIYAN (NWS) – A high surf advisory is in effect for Guam until 6 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service cautions residents to stay away from west and south facing reefs and beaches as rip currents will be at a “life-threatening” intensity.

A small craft advisory is also in effect through Sunday. Sea levels may reach 10 feet which may be hazardous for small crafts to navigate through.

The NWS also issued a high wind advisory, indicating that wind gusts from the south may reach 20 to 30 mph today and tomorrow. Winds over 30 mph may make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Isolated thunderstorms and locally heavy showers are expected throughout today and over the next few days.

The inclement weather is due to a developing tropical disturbance west of the Marianas.
