A TROPICAL disturbance located east-northeast of Guam is expected to dump 3 to 5 inches of rain throughout the next couple of days, according to the National Weather Service.

At 4 p.m. yesterday the weather service said the disturbance was located about 250 miles east-northeast of Guam and about 150 miles east of Saipan.

It was expected to move through the Mariana Islands last night and continue through the Marianas today. It may become a tropical depression when it is west of the islands tonight or tomorrow. Heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected.

While damaging winds are not expected, residents living in flood-prone areas are advised to be prepared for possible flooding during the next two days.

Guam Homeland Security will update the community if the forecast changes, according to a release from a GHS spokeswoman.

Residents can stay informed by calling 211 for the latest weather forecast or by visiting the National Weather Service online at www.prh.noaa.gov/guam.
