GCC to open second CAP

EXCITEMENT is in the air and expectations are high as the Guam Community College opens up its second Community Access Point (CAP) program in the Sinajaña Mayor’s Office at 10:15 a.m. today.

The CAP program is a partnership between GCC, the Guam Contractor’s Association, the Guam Chamber of Commerce and the Mayors' Council of Guam, through which residents have access to free online training via the KeyTrain component of WorkKeys, the Job Assessment and Training program offered through GCC. The Bank of Guam donated the 10 computers for the program.

Once participants complete the KeyTrain program, they can take the $65 test to earn a National Career Readiness Certificate offered through WorkKeys. The certificate is proof for employers of specific skills that the potential employee has mastered.

With the opening of the second CAP program in Sinajaña, the public in central Guam will now have access to computerized training that can boost their hiring potential.

The Sinajaña CAP comes on the heels of the program’s launch at the Inarajan Mayor’s Office earlier this year.

Expectations are high as three of the five people in the Inarajan program have already secured better jobs as a result of their participation.

The Sinajaña CAP program is expecting close to 20 participants. The Bank of Guam has already donated 10 computers for the Sinajaña training.
