GBAHE reprimands chiropractor

THE Guam Board of Allied Health Examiners has reprimanded a chiropractor for various charges that included engaging in a sexual relationship with a female patient, domestic violence, and lying in his application for license renewal.

In a stipulation signed May 15, the GBAHE also required chiropractor Roger Martinez to take up an anger management course and complete 12 hours of ethics training applicable to chiropractic by the end of the year.

Martinez recently published in Variety the board’s reprimand as part of the stipulation.

According to documents, Martinez engaged in a sexual relationship with a patient whom he treated for back injuries resulting from a car accident.

The board said Martinez violated the law when he received monetary compensation from the patient with whom he had a sexual relationship.

The charges against Martinez also included physical assault on the same patient, with whom he later lived in the same house.

The board also found that Martinez misrepresented his continuing credit hours when he applied for license renewal in December 2010.

The charge of credit misrepresentation arose from Martinez’s false claim that he earned 7.7 credit hours as a guest speaker at “Spa Day” at the Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward California on Oct. 21, 2010.
