(CAHA) – Per the approval and support of the board of the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities, CAHA will spearhead Guam’s participation at the 32nd Flame Tree Arts Festival.

The festival scheduled for April 19 to 21 will be held at the Civic Center Beach Park in Saipan. The 28-member delegation includes CAHA’s newly inducted masters: Francisco “Corn Beef” Lizama, Sainan Hereru (Master Blacksmith), Greg Pangelinan, Sainan Lalasgue (Master Carver) and Eileen Meno, Sainan Bailan Chamorro (Master of Chamorro Dance), as well as, Meno’s community based cultural dance group, Guma’ Irensian Taotao Tano.

The delegation will be led by Joseph Cameron, president of Department of Chamorro Affairs. Cameron stated it has been several years since an official delegation for Guam has participated in this annual festival.

As Guam will host the 12th Festival of Pacific Arts (FestPac) in 2016, the CAHA board recognized the importance of Guam having a presence at the Saipan festival.

The event is a perfect opportunity to share the Chamorro culture and heritage with festival participants and visitors, but more importantly to strengthen Guam’s relationship with the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas and Micronesia and to promote and encourage participation in FestPac 2016.

For further information, contact Jackie Balbas, CAHA program coordinator, at 300-1204 to 300-1208 or via email at kaha1[at]guam.net.
