POLICE yesterday identified the island’s fifth traffic-related fatality as 35-year-old Kasper Lakien.
The victim died from a hit-and-run on Ysengsong Road by Chalan Antigo, Dededo just before 1 a.m. on Saturday. Police are still searching for the operator of the vehicle that fled the scene.
According to Guam Police Department spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia, an autopsy of Lakien revealed head trauma as a result of being struck by the unknown vehicle.
“Guam Highway Patrol is still asking the public for any information that may help in solving this case,” he said.
Lakien was the second pedestrian to be struck by a vehicle this year. In January, Edward Joseph Kestler, 45, was struck by a male driver of a black SUV in Tamuning, but no arrests were made.
