KOREA’S Lotte Hotel Co. Ltd. has acquired the Aurora Resort and Spa in Tumon, investing $9 million to transform it into one of its chain hotels, according to the Feb. 1 issue of The Korea Herald.

The Korea Herald reported Lotte’s plan to give the Aurora Resort a facelift and turn it into the “most luxurious hotel” on Guam.

“Lotte Hotel said it will send its Seoul staff to Guam to upgrade the services to meet the hotel’s standards,” the report said.

Aurora Resort was formerly known as Guam Hotel Okura before it was bought by a Taiwanese group for more than $20 million in 2005. It features 242 rooms, four restaurants, three ballrooms, a swimming pool, a spa and a chapel.

Lotte Hotel Co. Ltd. is the hospitality arm of the Lotte Group, the parent company of Lotte DFS, which is one of the four bidders eyeing the retail concession at the Guam airport.
