BECAUSE of its popularity and the increase in demand, Pika’s Café is moving to a bigger and better location, but just right next door.
Pika’s Café is located at the Star Building in Upper Tumon across from St. John’s.
“We’ve just outgrown the space. We’re actually in the same building, but it’s almost three times bigger,” said Lenny Fejeran, general manager. They’re looking at opening on Nov. 22, which marks the restaurant’s second anniversary.
The restaurant is named after Fejeran’s wife, Pika, who Fejeran calls the big boss. “She feels good about it. She’s my partner. We feel real good about doing this,” he said.
Fejeran said the need to expand was evident the third month after they opened.
“Even without any advertising, we were packing the place and losing customers. We’d lose customers everyday especially during lunch time. We’re long overdue to expand but we had to expand at a comfortable pace for ourselves and coming in to our two-year anniversary, we felt it was time to do it,” he said.
One thing about the restaurant that the Fejerans and their employees enjoy is being able to spend more time with their families, which is the reason they are only open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“It’s better morale for the team when they don’t have to work at night,” he said. “We get a higher caliber of employees knowing they can spend time with their families and a place to be proud to be working for.”
Another important factor about the business is they are able to support local farmers. “We’re here for the community,” he said.
The company already closed their old restaurant location and is fixing up the new location.
