Legislators will review Bill 52, the Women’s Reproductive Health bill today. However, the legislative session has been rescheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in order to accommodate a legislative forum being held at Simon Sanchez High School at the same time.

According to Governor Eddie Baza Calvo, the teacher of the class that had scheduled the forum requested that the special session be moved so that the senators can attend the forum.

Bill 52, introduced by Calvo in 2011, requires informed consent from a woman in order to perform the procedure and requires information regarding the procedure, the woman’s rights, and services available for the woman and her child, such as counseling and welfare assistance. Following the release of this information, there must be a 24-hour wait period.
