WIC office in Tiyan reopens

  • PDF

The Tiyan office for the Women Infant Children (WIC) Program has reopened for business. Walk-in WIC services are provided at this location. Women, infants, and children up to 5 years old can get screened for WIC eligibility and clients who have missed an appointment at one of the other locations can visit the Tiyan office instead.

The Tiyan office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Tiyan location was closed in June, due to a broken air conditioning system. All services offered previously are available. However, nutrition education classes are not being offered yet.

Clients can call the office to ask questions or inquire about required documents at 477-0295/96. Some documents that are required to apply for the program are ID and income documentation.

The other WIC locations are in Dededo and Mangilao.

WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children.  The Program provides access to specific nutritious foods and nutrition education for pregnant, post-partum, and breastfeeding women and children from birth to 5 years old who are at nutritional risk.

The program also helps connects at-risk clients with other health services such as primary care and immunizations.
