THE 50,000 pamphlets for the For-Profit Bingo Initiative, which were approved by the Guam Election Commission on Monday, are scheduled to be mailed out today. The 12-page pamphlets will include the initiative, one argument for it, and one argument against it.
Although GEC is on schedule with the pamphlets, the issue of precinct officials has not yet been resolved. More than 70 precinct officials are needed for the villages of Yigo, Dededo, Tamuning, Hagåtña, Asan, Santa Rita, Chalan Pågo, Mangilao, Barrigada, and Talofofo.
Alternate precinct officials, to step in if another worker is sick or unable to perform, are needed as well. The precinct officials will man the polling sites on Election Day and assist in tallying the results.
Even with an incomplete number of officials, GEC plans to continue with its training this Saturday. New precinct officials will just be trained as they sign in.
In addition, in-house registration and volunteer registration begins on Monday.
A list of volunteer registrars and their contact information is listed by district and organization on the GEC website (gec.guam.gov under the “for voters” tab).
The volunteer registrars can register any qualified citizen to vote and also register with the Decolonization Registry. Valid photo identification and proof of U.S. citizenship would be required.
The general election will be on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
