J.Q. San Miguel Elementary School will be holding its annual fair today highlighting the importance of cultural diversity and parental and community involvement.

By adopting “Bringing Communities Together” as the theme for the event, the school hopes to focus on how diverse families can work and collaborate with the school to help their children become successful.

From 4 to 6 p.m., invited guest speakers will talk about the importance of school and educational achievement, regular school attendance, being proactive and taking care of children’s physical needs, and managing children's behavior.

Furthermore, a discussion on cultural norms and practices and what parents should be aware of when living in Guam and/or the U.S. will also be tackled in the presentation.

According to a news release from the Guam Department of Education, Chuuk Gov. Johnson Elimo, first lady of Chuuk Bersita Elimo, FSM Consulate Representative Robert Ruecho and Speaker Judith Won Pat will be at the fair to speak and meet with J.Q. San Miguel families.
