THE Republican Party of Guam believes the For-Profit Bingo Initiative or Prop A won’t be a good deal for the island. The party has joined forces with the Archdiocese and the Committee to Keep Guam Good in opposing the initiative.
Republican Party of Guam chairman Mike Benito in a statement said the initiative doesn’t coincide with their standards.
“We are the party of family values,” Benito said. “This initiative is incompatible with these values.”
He further stated that while the legislation looks as if it is solely for for-profit bingo games, it appears to be more of an open door for the arrival of gaming machines.
“This is disingenuous and we believe the voters on Guam are intelligent and will see beyond this,” Benito emphasized.
“We have seen the damage to families and social ills that poker machines did on Guam many years ago. Pushing similar devices through, under the cover of the word ‘bingo,’ is a disservice to the community,” he added.
