GPA outages hit Sinajaña and Tumon

AN EMERGENCY outage hit parts of Tumon lasting two hours up to 2 a.m. early this morning.

Affected areas were from Fiesta Resort and Fountain Plaza to the GHURA Housing location.

The Guam Power Authority said line crews had to make repairs to an underground line servicing the area.

Also last night, a contractor severed an underground line by the friary in Agaña Heights.

As a result, power to customers from St. Jude Church in Sinajaña toward the border areas of Agaña Heights were without power.

GPA crews were deployed to the site and worked to isolate the immediate work area to make repairs.

No time frame was given for power restoration as of press time last night.

GPA said underground line crews needed to complete the isolation work and assess the damage to the line.

GPA also announced a lane closure notice for Route 1 Marine Corps Drive in Upper Tumon on the outermost lane in front of the Jack Peters location. GPA line crews installed a transformer onto a pole.

Only one customer had service interruption for approximately 30 minutes while the work was being completed.
