GUAM’S housekeeping professionals will be recognized for the significant role they play in Guam’s top industry, tourism.
At a proclamation signing, Gov. Eddie Calvo declared Sept. 10 through 14 as Housekeeping Professionals Week, and Sept. 15 Housekeeping Professionals Day. The theme of the week is “Housekeeping Together We Shine.”
According to Lucia Calvo, project manager of the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association, hotels will be recognizing their housekeeping staff throughout the week for their hard work.
On Sept. 15, a Housekeeping Gala will be held at the Pacific Islands Club. Guam’s housekeeping professionals and their families are expected to attend.
Housekeeping comprises about 30 percent of a hotel’s total staff. As the number of tourists is expected to increase, the governor stressed that the housekeeping staffers are among those who provide the quality service that is linked to tourists’ positive experience of Guam.
