TO FURTHER help the flood victims in the Philippines, donations of non-perishable food and other items are being accepted at the Grand Taj Restaurant on the second floor of the Grand Plaza Hotel, Tumon.

In addition, a small portion of customers’ portions will go to helping the flood victims, with $1 of every lunch buffet and $2 of all dinner entrées going to help the flood victims.

The donation drive began Monday, Aug. 20 and will continue until Monday, Aug. 27.

Relief efforts are being coordinated by the office of Sen. Tina Muña-Barnes.

The flooding accompanies the worst weather in the Philippines since Typhoon Ketsana in 2009. About 2 million people have been affected by the flood.

The Philippine government is already moving forward with plans to relocate tens of thousands of squatters who live along waterways and flood-prone areas in the Manila region, after two weeks of typhoons and monsoon rains in early August caused dangerous flooding.

The Philippine government expects to move the 150 families in this Manila Bay neighborhood in September.
