A MAN was arrested this week and charged in local court yesterday for allegedly failing to pay for a $2,164.50 hotel bill he racked up while staying at the Ramada Suites last month.

Stephen Joseph Salas, 33, was charged in the Superior Court of Guam with theft of services as a second degree felony. Salas had checked in at the Ramada Hotel & Suites Guam along Ypao Beach Road on July 3 and allegedly left the premises on July 29 without making payment.

“Numerous unsuccessful attempts were made to obtain payment from Salas prior to Salas checking out of the hotel,” court documents stated. The hotel reported the complaint to police on July 30 and Salas was located about two weeks later.

Court documents state Salas told police that payment was made. However, Salas later recanted his story, indicating he failed to pay the hotel.
