FIRST lady Christine Calvo, the Rigalu Foundation, the Department of Public Works and several community partners broke ground for the building of a new bus shelter in Inarajan last Friday as part of the first lady’s “The Bus Stops Here” program.
“The important thing about building a bus stop is we always want to know our children are safe. Our parents know where the children are and the bus drivers know where to stop,” Calvo said.
The new bus shelter is one of a total of 111 that the program aims to build. It will replace the wooden shelter currently in place. The new bus shelter is located along Route 4, across the Layon Landfill access road.
According to Inarajan Mayor Franklin Taitague, the village is currently in need of 15 more bus shelters.
“Those without shelters are threatened with inclement weather. So for their protection, safety and comfort, certainly this project is worthy,” Taitague said.
