A COLORADO-REGISTERED sex offender who came to Guam in December of last year admitted in federal court that he knowingly failed to register with the Guam Sex Offender Registry.
Michael David Montgomery appeared for a hearing to change his plea from not guilty to guilty in the District Court of Guam for failure to register as a sex offender.
He was arrested in June after the District Court discovered he had not entered the local sex offender registry since his arrival on Dec. 31. He was also wanted on two outstanding warrants in Colorado.
Montgomery was convicted in the state of Colorado for the offenses of “contributing to the delinquency of a minor” and “unlawful sexual contact.”
He was sentenced in October 2008 and ordered to serve three months imprisonment and six years probation. As part of his probation conditions, he was required to notify his parole officer if he left the state or where he would be residing, which he allegedly failed to do.
Montgomery is set to be sentenced on Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. before Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood.
