THE commander of the Guam Police Department’s Hagåtña Precinct held an impromptu inspection of the facility yesterday afternoon.
GPD acting spokesman Sgt. Mike Aguon said the unannounced inspection was conducted at around 1 p.m. and that the commander, Lt. Donald Flickenger, wanted it to happen to show the precinct is drug-free.
“The inspection resulted in negative findings,” Aguon said, adding more surprise inspections will be held in precincts and divisions in the future.
He stressed the inspection had nothing to do with the case of three officers assigned to the precinct who are currently under investigation after suspected methamphetamines were found in a police cruiser.
Meanwhile, Aguon said they are still waiting for test results conducted on the officers to come in from off-island. The process was supposed to take seven days to complete, but he said they’re pretty much at the mercy of the lab where the tests were sent to for analysis.
“Until it comes back, we don’t have anything,” he said.
An Internal Affairs investigation is also ongoing. The officers are still on-duty at the Hagåtña Precinct.
