OFFICERS from the Frankie Perez Tamuning/Tumon Precinct were able to apprehend a suspect yesterday in connection with a break-in at a Tamuning home.

“What happened was shortly after 2 p.m. – a male victim reported to police that as he came into his house, he was confronted by an unknown man with a handgun,” said Lt. Ron Taitano, of the Tamuning/Tumon Precinct.

He said the victim was able to give a description of the vehicle – a gray Chevy Aveo – and 30 minutes later officers were able to track the vehicle at the Ypao Breeze Inn on Ypao Road.

“We searched the inn and during our search, the suspect tried fleeing by jumping off a second-floor balcony and we were able to apprehend him,” he said.

The suspect was identified as Bruce Charfauros and was charged with robbery, burglary, and possession and use of a weapon in the commission of a felony.

Taitano said they also recovered from the inn a suspected handgun and miscellaneous items, including purses and jewelry.

“We don’t have a dollar amount right now of the monetary value of the stolen goods. We’re still trying to piece everything together,” he said.

Taitano commended the communication between their desk watch officer and the officers searching for the suspect vehicle which resulted in Charfauros' capture.

“Information was processed quickly and we were able to get here,” he said. “I would say it was the desk watch officer who was instrumental.”

Charfauros was booked and confined.
