DEPARTMENT of Public Works employees recently celebrated Public Works Week – a week to recognize the work of DPW employees.
In addition to employee recognition, the week was celebrated with an inter-agency breakfast cooking contest. The various agencies’ breakfast dishes were judged by Meskla chef Peter Duenas, Proa chef Geoffrey Perez, Sen. Tina Muña-Barnes and DPW Director Joanne Brown.
The first-place dish, lemai and latiya, was cooked by Peter Kaai, Jesus Castro and Rudy Anogco from the Highway Construction Maintenance Division.
Second place went to the DPW Administration Division’s fried rice, eggs and rib-eye steak prepared by Mike Cruz, David Palomo and Bryan Benavente.
“Simple but Delicious” came in third from the Guam Fire Department’s employees in the One Stop Satellite. The chefs were John Santos, Jose S. Cruz and Gerald Terlaje.
“It was an event that brought camaraderie, fun and laughter lifting the department beyond the challenges they face daily,” DPW stated.
