Verga contract approved

THE Attorney General’s Office announced yesterday that the contract for the Guam Memorial Hospital administrator has been reviewed and signed.

The final step for the approval of the contract and for the new administrator to claim his position is for Gov. Eddie Calvo to sign and approve the contract.

Joseph Verga had been scheduled to take office the first day of July. However, the contract could not be finalized in time as a result of modifications requested by the AG. The request had been made two weeks before the beginning of July. Revisions had not been submitted to the AGO until last week Thursday.

Details of the revision have not been made public by the AGO or GMH’s legal counsel.

“I’m glad the governor has it. And I hope it is acted upon expeditiously so Joseph Verga can begin his work,” said Lee Webber, chairman of the GMHA board.
