TWO male suspects who traveled to Guam from Malaysia and allegedly went on a shopping spree with fraudulent credit cards yesterday pled not guilty in federal court.

An arraignment was scheduled at the District Court of Guam where Aik Han Heng, 34, and Jiunn Yang Tan, 23, pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging them with conspiracy to commit access device fraud; possession of more than 15 counterfeit access devices; access device fraud; and aggravated identity theft.

Heng and Tan arrived on-island earlier this month, intending to shop for luxury goods which they claim was instructed by a personal creditor back in Malaysia.

Together, the suspects were carrying 24 counterfeit credit cards bearing their names, but half of the account numbers on the credit cards were linked to actual individuals in the U.S.

More than $23,000 was spent using the counterfeit credit cards, which the indictment stated was obtained from another source in Malaysia.

A jury trial is scheduled for Sept. 27, 9:30 a.m. in the courtroom of Chief Judge Frances Tydingco-Gatewood. The two remain behind bars.
