SOUTHBOUND traffic passing through the intersection of Route 1 and Route 16 by the Micronesia Mall will be restricted to one lane beginning today at 11 a.m. until tomorrow at 6 a.m.
Only one lane will be open for motorists heading toward Hagåtña from Route 16. Lanes turning onto Route 16 from Route 1 and the lane heading northbound from Route 16 toward Yigo will both remain open.
The Department of Public Works will be repairing manhole covers at the intersection.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution while in the area and to take alternate routes as significant delays will occur.
DPW has also issued an alert that installation of the friction course asphalt for Route 4 from McDonald's in Hagåtña to Dero Road in Ordot will begin this weekend and will continue the following four weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Motorists are advised to expect lane closures and to proceed with caution while the work is being done. Lanes will be reopened during the workweek. Motorists are also advised to stay tuned for weekly updates on the progress and traffic advisories as the work commences.
