FIVE families received grants through the First Time Home-Owners Assistance Program.

Guam Housing Corporation President Martin Benavente signed the certificates for the grants that would provide the families the financial assistance to own their own homes. The grants will go toward the downpayment of homes.

“It’s a great opportunity for homeowners,” said Gerri Leon Guerrero, who with her husband Marty Leon Guerrero will use the grant as the final step to completely own their home in Yoña.

“Programs like this really help the realization of the Guamanian Dream,” said Sen. Tina Muña-Barnes. The senator emphasizes that the project couldn't have come to fruition without cooperation between the executive branch, legislative branch, and the Guam Housing Corporation.

The funds were released with the completion of Public Law 31-227 in June. The legislation, authored by Sen. Ben Pangelinan and co-sponsored by Sen. Muña-Barnes, allows $500,000 to be made available through the assistance program.
