TWO suspects involved in an armed robbery of Nana’s Store in Agaña Heights have pleaded guilty to their crimes while a third suspect is scheduled to go on trial tomorrow in the District Court of Guam.
Balbino K. Leon Guerrero pled guilty to Hobbs Act Robbery and to brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence in federal court on July 9. Dedrick Jonathan Aguon also pled guilty on July 12 to Hobbs Act Robbery and to aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence.
According to a statement from the Office of U.S. Attorney Alicia Limtiaco, the crimes arise out of the Sept. 8, 2011 armed robbery of a cashier at Nana’s Store. Leon Guerrero and Aguon had entered the establishment, pointed a firearm at the cashier and demanded money from the cash register.
The cashier handed over about $700 to the suspects. Leon Guerrero was the one who held the cashier at gunpoint while Aguon was the one who provided his co-defendants with firearms and acted as a getaway driver, the statement indicated.
Both Leon Guerrero and Aguon face a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years and up to life imprisonment for their crimes. Another co-defendant, Dwayne Joshua San Nicolas, is scheduled for jury selection and trial tomorrow.
