Annual foster kids uniform drive launched

A UNIFORM drive benefitting Guam’s foster children was recently launched by first lady Christine M.S. Calvo’s Rigålu Foundation.

Now on its second year, the Foster Kids Uniform Drive seeks to raise funds and vouchers for Guam’s more than 200 children placed in Guam’s foster care system.

“There’s so much we can do to help the foster children in our community. These are brave kids who face many challenges,” Calvo said.

She added: “I think we have a unique opportunity to give back and help a child in need. Going to school and getting a good education is the first step on their journey to a brighter future. We should come together to give every foster child a good start this year.”

The community can contribute to the foundation’s Foster Kids Uniform Drive via donation boxes set up at Pay-Less Supermarket locations or by purchasing uniform vouchers through the first lady’s office at the Ricardo Bordallo Governor’s Complex in Adelup.

To participate in the project, learn more about the different ways to help the island’s foster children, or provide support to nonprofit organizations focused on providing services for foster children, contact the Rigålu Foundation at 475-9475 or via rigaluguam[at]gmail.com.
