U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. – who was held to be in contempt of Congress last week for withholding information pertinent to the so-called “Fast and Furious” operation – is coming to Guam to speak at a conference in Hagåtña on July 16.
Jointly sponsored by the U.S. District Courts of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, the conference, entitled “A Conversation with U.S. Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.,” will be held at the federal court building from 9 a.m. to noon, according to an announcement posted on the U.S. District Court website.
“Video teleconference will be available at the U.S. District Court Courtroom in Saipan for those members who are unable to travel to Guam and be present for the conference,” the announcement said.
The conference, organized in conjunction with the Guam Bar Association, will also feature a 30-minute continuing legal education session on ethics to be presented by Ethics Prosecutor Bruce Bradley.
The district court said more details about Holder’s visit will be announced later.
According to a source, Holder will meet with the staff of the U.S. Attorney’s Office on Guam as well as local law enforcement and court officials. He will also hold a panel discussion with U.S. Attorney Alicia Limtiaco, as well as Rodney Jacob and Sean Frink, presidents of the Guam and CNMI bar associations, respectively.
Holder was in hot water for refusing to yield documents subpoenaed by Congress last October as part of its inquiry into a bungled gun-tracking mission aimed at arresting members of Mexican drug cartels.
Members of the congressional fact-finding committee alleged that senior Justice Department officials were aware of "gun walking," where smugglers moved guns across the border with Mexico. Holder, however, maintained the documents contain no reference to gun walking.
On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives approved a resolution holding Holder in contempt of Congress, but Holder's prosecution was thwarted by the Justice Department on Friday when the office, which Holder heads, said it would not pursue the case.
Holder is the 82nd attorney general of the United States, and the first sitting member of a U.S. Cabinet to be held in contempt of Congress.
From 2001 until he became attorney general, Holder worked as an attorney at Covington & Burling in Washington D.C. He represented the National Football League during its dog fighting investigation against Michael Vick.
Holder previously served as a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and as a U.S. attorney.

There is a group of influential greedy people on our Island , calling themselves native Guamanians. They are continuously whining and complaining about local people and their representatives .

They are pretending to be Republicans, but the truth is that they even criticize our local Republican Party when they are behind closed doors, among each other.
They are trying hard with the remaining FAB8, to destroy our Island. Today this group is pretending support for the Calvo Administration, but actually their agenda is to take control of local politics and to slowly make locals a minority never mind if Democrats or Republicans.
Locals will loose influence and power like it was in Hawaii before.
