GEPA mulls options against Taitano

  • PDF

THE Guam Environmental Protection Agency board voted yesterday to rescind an order of compliance filed earlier against Joseph Taitano for running an illegal dumping site in Yigo.

After the vote, GEPA spokesperson Tammy-Jo Anderson Taft stated they are going “to move forward with the case and take legal recourse.”

Anderson stated: “The board decided to rescind the orders for legal reasons, mostly because late last year, there was a hearing about the case and the defendant argued that proper notice was not given to him about the hearing.”

But from GEPA’s point of view, Taft said, the environmental violation definitely occurred and Taitano violated environmental law.

“Given our investigation and the information we’ve seen, we are going to move forward with the case and take legal recourse,” Taft explained.

Guam EPA’s legal counsel, she added, is reviewing possible options to move forward with the case.

I just want to pull my hair out! I've written too many posts critical of Gov Guam agencies and the justice system. I've had enough. OOG can things like this happen, and happen so many times over and over again.

In addition to this fiasco, we now have a Parks and Rec employee pocketing deposits from citizens just trying to reserve the pool for family events. Nobody knows how much, his status is unknown, just nominated for an award last year....he'll never be charged and what's more..he'll keep his gov guam guam and just be reassigned.

So many; port employee with meth in unauthorized area - not charged, murderers working outside DOC, port employees without proper credentials, police officers threatening and assaulting others, DOE can't spend money given to them for free, procurement agency just completely broken, it just goes on and on. And....nobody is ever charged and if they are, they get off. Even on the Fed side, there is selective prosecution because the political arm of Guam reaches inside the Federal agencies. The pare system rules Guam.

And, it gives us locals a bad name, did they ever think about that? All of these mentioned here are Chamorro.

As for this mess, 10 years later and the guy still hasn't paid up.

The Rodriquez's and their tax debt....This government is dysfunctional!

It's a dang shame!

It's a shame a US jurisdiction has a local government that works this way.
