CITIBANK celebrated its 200th anniversary with its “Citi Global Community Day” held at Gov. Joseph Flores Memorial Beach Park on Saturday, June 16.
The company celebrated with volunteers and 200 children brought together by various local nonprofit groups that assist the island’s youth.
Organizations that participated in the event were Big Brothers Big Sisters of Guam, The Salvation Army’s Gill Baza Mobile Classroom Project, Project STAR, the Coalition against Domestic Violence, Habitat for Humanity of Guam, and the Pacific Missionary Fellowship Kids Club.
“It’s a good event for the kids who don’t have much,” said Judy Ayuyu from the Salvation Army.
The children were treated with games, ice cream, shaved ice, rock climbing provided by the Guam National Guard Counter Drug Program, a magic show, and Zumba.
The event was a way of celebrating the future, stated Agustin Davalos, Citibank country business manager. “What better way to celebrate the future than to celebrate with children. It’s our way of telling the community, ‘Thank you for letting us be a part of the community.’”
The Citi Global Community Day is celebrated by branches in 100 countries by highlighting the work Citibank does in the community with other community organizations.
