THE Legislature has issued a resolution honoring outgoing Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installation and Environment Jackalyne Pfannenstiel for her work on the Guam military buildup.

Presenting the resolution was Sen. Judi Guthertz, chairperson of the committee on the military buildup. She was joined by Sens. Tony Ada and Aline Yamashita.

In the resolution, Pfannenstiel was recognized for her leadership abilities in being an advocate for Guam as the island moved through the challenges of the buildup.

“In the course of these complex and multiple duties, Secretary Pfannenstiel was responsible in large measure for implementing the U.S.-Japan agreement to realign U.S. forces and relocate 5,000 Marines and their families from Okinawa to Guam,” Guthertz said as she read the resolution.

Navy Capt. Dan Cuff, of the Joint Guam Program Office, accepted the resolution on behalf of Pfannenstiel.

Cuff informed the group that Pfannenstiel wishes the best for the island. She has also expressed her appreciation to the Legislature for acknowledging her accomplishments.
