HARD Rock Café Guam celebrated its 41st Founder’s Day with its signature “Guns & Hoses Legendary Burger Eating Contest.”

The contest thanks and recognizes local law enforcement, emergency responders and the National Guard for the work they do for the community. Members of the Guam Fire Department, Guam Police Department and the Guam National Guard were invited to compete against each other in the competition.

This year, only the fire department was represented by two GFD personnel, Gordon Blackmon and Octavius Conception. Two Hard Rock employees, Edward Dela Cruz and Jason Pangelinan, stepped up to participate in the challenge.

A plate of burgers was placed in front of the two teams of two. The pair that could eat the most burgers in three minutes was to be the winner. The competition went into overtime when both teams tied as the time limit expired. Competitors were given one more minute to eat as many burgers as they could.

The Guam Fire Department was named the winner of the Guns & Hoses Legendary Burger Eating Contest for the fourth year running.

Hard Rock Café Founders Day celebrates the opening of the first restaurant in London on June 14, 1971. Hard Rock employees also celebrate the day worldwide by wearing 1970s clothing and costumes.
