(CARONEL) – One of the world’s most exclusive fine watchmakers has arrived on Guam.
Audemars Piguet, the world’s oldest family-run watchmaker and a company responsible for many historic firsts in the tradition of haute horology and complex movements, has opened its boutique at The Plaza Shopping Center in the heart of Tumon.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held yesterday with Angel Mendoza, president and general manager of DKSH Guam, Go Mugino, CEO of Audemars Piguet Japan, and Lt. Gov. Ray Tenorio.
There are just over 20 Audemars Piguet boutiques worldwide and Guam is only the seventh boutique in Asia.
The Guam boutique was developed and will be run by DKSH Guam, which also operates watch centers for Rolex and Caronel.
“This is a remarkable moment for luxury retailing and tourism in Guam,” Mendoza said.
“Audemars Piguet and its rare timepieces draw a strong international following of passionate watch connoisseurs. We are honored to represent Audemars Piguet in Micronesia and we will continue to invest in the growth of Guam’s retail and tourism sectors,” he added.
As the authorized wholesale and retail agent in Micronesia for many of the world’s top watch brands, DKSH Guam is a regional leader in luxury goods.
Audemars Piguet is the last fine watchmaking manufacturer still in the hands of its founding families (Audemars and Piguet).
Since 1875, the company has written some of the finest chapters in the history of Haute Horlogerie, including a number of world firsts. In the Vallée de Joux, at the heart of the Swiss Jura, numerous masterpieces are created in limited series embodying a remarkable degree of horological perfection, including daring sporty models, classic and traditional timepieces, splendid ladies’ jewelry-watches, as well as one-of-a-kind creations.
A subsidiary of the Zurich-based market expansion company DKSH Group, DKSH Guam is Micronesia’s premier watch agent, operating the Rolex boutiques and Caronel Watch Centers in Guam and Saipan.
Caronel was first established in Guam in 1972. The company continues to grow its portfolio of luxury boutiques and this month announced the opening of Audemars Piguet in Tumon.
DKSH Group has a 140-year tradition of doing business in and with the Asia region.
