THE Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority celebrated an open house yesterday as it completed the second and final phase of the roof repair of the 48 housing units in Dededo.

GHURA officials and Dededo Mayor Melissa Savares were on hand to welcome the families to the revitalized community located at the intersection of Marine Corps Drive and Santa Monica Avenue.

Families have been moving into the remaining 27 units. Work on these included a new roof, exterior and interior painting, replacement of wooden stairways, new floor tiles, and new appliances.

The 48 units in the Dededo subdivision were repaired and the total cost of $2.6 million came from the Capital Fund Program under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Repair work on the first 21 units was completed in March of last year.
