An appeal to US Attorney Alicia Limtiaco

THIS is my concerned citizen request for action by the United States Justice Department to investigate the police officers in the CNMI involved with facilitating the escape of state Attorney General Edward Buckingham, the obstruction of justice that aided his exit, and threats against citizens by armed officers including a person trying to deliver Buckingham’s subpoena. I also request an investigation into other police misconduct due to the ongoing risk to public safety these officers pose.

Various law enforcement officers have pleaded the 5th in a televised legislative hearing looking into the possible impeachment of Gov. Benigno Fitial. That alone warrants a federal investigation or federal task force because the governor, former AG Buckingham, and illegitimate AG Alepuyo can’t enforce the laws of the CNMI because of their own association. The impeachment proceeding itself is a mockery of justice.

We believe everyone in the commonwealth understands what is going on here: The governor is corrupt, and he arrogantly breaks the law without consequence because no one can or will prosecute him, evidenced by massage-gate and our criminal-turned-fugitive former AG’s escape, and the now illegal acting AG appointee refusing to prosecute. The criminal mafia operating in the CNMI must be confronted by the Justice Department.

According to media reports, officers told a reporter (attending a political function on government time), “Who told you we were here?”and “I thought you were dead ... too bad.”

It has become obvious that this scale of corruption must be challenged. It is not tolerable in a civilized society functioning under the rule of law. The criminal acts of this administration must be stopped, as many residents fear the governor will pardon his criminal associates before his departure.

Ron Hodges,
Saipan, CNMI
