KUDOS to the Mount Carmel School Phoenix Stage Band for their stellar performance as the opening act for the Kool & the Gang concert at the UOG Field House last Friday.
The middle school musicians showed talent and comfortable performing presence as they rocked through 40-plus minutes of old favorites, such as Journey's "Small Town Girl" and Chamorro hits including one composed by the late J.D. Crutch. For a school that was on the verge of closing not so many years ago, Mount Carmel has surged forward to become an outstanding institution academically, athletically, and particularly artistically.
