“We're pretty excited about the event,” said Michael Mauriello, President of Guam Rebar.
Mauriello and manager Charles Doherty have been working to open the facility since July 2010.
“This is a pretty big deal for Guam” said Doherty, who added that “Guam Rebar’s facility is comparable to any full service automated rebar fabricating facility in Hawaii or on the mainland US.”
Mauriello is a rebar industry veteran who is also President and co-owner of East Coast’s NY Rebar, Inc.
Doherty has been an Ironworker for over 20 years and has managed rebar detailing, fabricating and installation businesses. Guam Rebar Supply is Guam’s first, and only, full service rebar fabricator.
"We’re excited about the long-term potential for our business on Guam and we’re committed to its success,” said Mauriello, who added “to date we’ve invested almost $1 million dollars in our facility in Mangilao.”
Mauriello also said that Guam Rebar will be hiring employees almost exclusively from Guam and added that “one of our objectives is to bring careers to the people of Guam, and not just jobs.”
Guam Rebar Supply is located on Route 15 in Mangilao, directly across from Hawaiian Rock and specializes in the cutting bending and assembly of rebar for reinforced concrete construction throughout Micronesia.
