I hope that local leaders will react favorably to Dr. Underwood's clarion call that "education is fundamental," which I am sure they do. How can anybody say it is not? Lost in the education debate, however, is whether the community has lost its ability for high-level logical thought constructs, which cannot just be taught in schools and colleges (unless if higher level Philosophy and Logic classes are offered), but where there is also a marketplace of ideas where opinions can be offered without fear of retribution. As far as the health-care law, don't get too excited as the GOP has promised to repeal it if they secure the WH and the Senate.
